About FARF™

FARF™ stands for Federal Aviation Regulation Facts — aviation rules served daily with a millibar of humor. Built for pilots, student pilots, instructors, mechanics, air traffic controllers, drone pilots, flight attendants, cabin hosts, and aviation fans, FARF™ turns regulations into cartoon-style memory hooks that are easier to remember than another dry paragraph in the FAR/AIM.

FARF™ began in 1998, nearly 28 years ago, when I was working as a CFII, MEI, and AGI. I had an idea: aviation regulations are important, but they do not have to be dry, forgettable, or painful to study.

Life happened, flying happened, and 18,500 hours later, FARF™ is finally coming back to life. What started as a simple idea to make the FARs easier to remember has grown into a daily aviation humor concept built for the people who live aviation every day.

FARF™ is about the aviation community. Got an aviation idiom, air traffic control idiom, cockpit joke, funny flight attendant announcement, cabin host one-liner, drone pilot zinger, or a FAR/AIM moment that deserves a punchline? Send it in — I’ll make sure it makes the Sunday papers. :)

This is also my first solo flight developing both a website and a cell phone app, so suggestions, corrections, feedback, and better ideas are welcome. FARF™ is being built for aviation folks — and with aviation folks. Thank you for helping bring it to life.
